using old pictures in your dating profile

If you use an old picture in your dating profile and find someone to make a connection with and you both spend hours upon hours getting to know each other online, and then meet and the other person is disappointed or surprised, is it their fault?
No, I do not think it is their fault, nor do I think that it makes them a shallow person, what it makes them is a victim of your shady, dishonest online dating experience. I know this sounds harsh, but I am not here to blow smoke up your ass, I am here to help you make a good connection, not waste time.
This can work both ways, and of course it is a slightly different situation if you use an old pictures and once you make contact come clean about this and offer to send updated pictures, or webcam with live video. But do not waste hours and hours of other people’s time. This is not the way to make friends, and could get you booted from some of the online dating sites out there if you do not come clean about this quickly.
I know the argument, well looks shouldn’t matter if you really make a connection, blah blah blah. Yeah, fine. If you are looking for a friend go to one of those pets social networks, not a dating and mating site. Adult dating is about about relationships that most people want some kind of sexual intimacy. If you are looking for someone to share your bed with, you want someone that is honest, and hiding the fact that you have gained 20 pounds since your college graduation photo does not make you an honest person, and does not make someone else shallow for not wanting to share their bed with someone that is already behind dishonest and hiding things before they even got started.
